Simple Darts Scoring - Privacy Policy

Offline games

Saved player names, game settings, templates, match history and derived statistics are stored on your device. Offline games do not require an online account.

Optional accounts and friends

Local profiles require no sign-in. You can make your own local profile available online without an email address. It receives a five-character friend code and a Firebase Authentication identifier. The friend code is public to your friends, not a password. Signing in on another phone requires a separate, one-use code generated on a phone already signed in. This secret expires after five minutes; only its hash is stored by the server. Expired transfer records are scheduled for daily cleanup. Keep access to a signed-in device: code-only profiles cannot be recovered by email.

Existing email/password, Google and Apple accounts can still sign in. For those optional methods, Firebase Authentication processes the sign-in credentials, email address, provider identifiers and verification status. We never share your email address or password with friends. Google browser sign-in uses an expiring, device-bound handoff; you confirm the selected account in the app.

When signed in, your saved players, completed match history and player identity links are backed up privately when online availability is enabled. Promoting a local profile explicitly copies the phone's players and history into the private backup while keeping stable player identifiers. Existing accounts can explicitly import older local data once. Local guest data remains separate on the device. App preferences and setup templates remain device-local.

Only accepted friends can read your shared profile and player statistics. You can pause online availability without deleting your profile: new uploads pause and friends cannot read shared statistics until you turn it on again. Friend requests use your friend code. Accepting a friend does not automatically claim an existing local player's history: linking historical results requires the account owner's approval. Friends can select your linked player for new local games. You can require a six-digit play PIN for each such match; the PIN is stored server-side only as a salted password hash. It does not permit account login. Without a PIN, accepted friends can submit local match results for your profile. Manually entered local results are not independently verified.

Removing a friend ends access to your private statistics and authorization for new local results. Normal online results count once; disconnected or forfeited matches do not count. Account sync has storage and usage limits; unsynced games stay on the phone until sync is available.

Optional online 501

Opening Play Online connects to Google Firebase. Without an account, Firebase Authentication creates a pseudonymous user identifier without asking for an email address or password. We process that identifier, connection/session identifiers, your chosen player name (which can be a nickname), lobby codes, match settings, throws, results, timestamps and connection status to run online matches, reconnect players and prevent misuse. Firebase App Check uses platform integrity information to protect the service. Google may process technical connection information, including IP addresses and device/app information, to deliver and secure these services.

Your opponent receives the shared lobby and match data, including player names, scores and connection status. Do not share an invitation link or code with people you do not want to join. Google Firebase processes online data as our hosting, authentication and security provider. We do not sell your data, run advertising, or use cross-app advertising tracking. We do not include Firebase Analytics or Crashlytics in this release.

Camera and media

This release does not offer camera scoring, request camera access, or capture/upload photos, video or audio. Earlier private camera test builds are not part of this release.

Retention and deletion

Local data remains until you delete it in Settings > General settings > Data management, clear the app's data, or uninstall it, subject to your device's backup settings. Local deletion does not delete your opponent's saved copy.

Online rooms expire six hours after creation and are scheduled for daily cleanup seven days after their expiry. Cleanup can be delayed by service availability. Anonymous authentication records, reconnect references and operational/security records may remain longer and are not removed by the local data-management buttons.

Account backups and statistics are retained until deleted. Delete account in Account & friends removes your cloud backup, statistics, friend list and authentication account, and clears that account's local workspace on the current phone. Other signed-in devices may retain cached data until they reconnect or are cleared. Guest data and device settings are preserved. Deleting a private match copy does not erase another participant's accepted statistics or their locally saved copy. Technical service logs may be retained separately for security and troubleshooting. Never send a play PIN or password to support.

To request deletion of your account and its associated data, selected online data, or an anonymous online identity, email rik.breukers@ziggo.nl with the subject "Simple Darts Scoring data deletion". Include the relevant player nickname and public friend code or, if available, lobby code and approximate match date so we can locate the record and verify the request. Do not send passwords, play PINs or temporary sign-in codes. We may ask for additional information to verify ownership. Local copies held by opponents are not controlled by this deletion request.

Support and your choices

You can use offline games without using Play Online. Sharing an invitation opens your device's share sheet; the service you choose has its own privacy policy. If you email support, we receive your email address and the information you send to respond to your request. Contact us to ask about access, correction or deletion of your data.
